miṭhat neevee naanakaa   guṇ chaňgiaaieeaa tat.
O Nanak! Sweetness and humility are the essence of all virtues and goodness. -Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 470

Message: Guru Granth Sahib is both a guide and a channel that helps us to internalise and embody rightful virtues. We are admonished to be sweet-mild mannered or kind to others – in our social interactions and dealings. Whatever our achievements or successes in life, we should still remain humble in life. If we achieve something, we should be thankful to the Divine and not go into ‘Me, Myself and Mine’ mode.

These virtues need to be practised in life and if imbibed will lead to goodness or a good life.

Etymology: Combination of neev (humility) + suffix (ee).
