High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to Suspended IG Paramraj Umranangal

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Suspended IG Paramraj Umranangal, who was arrested by the Special Investigation Team on February 18 and is currently lodged in Patiala jail, has been granted anticipatory bail by the Punjab & Haryana Court. Now, the SIT would have to give a 7 days prior notice to the suspended IG Paramraj Umranangal before arresting him if he succeeds in securing bail in Kotkapura and Behbal Klan firing cases.

Umranangal was grilled for about a week by the Special Investigation Team after his arrest on February 18.

After arresting Umranangal, SIT member IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh had said that Paramraj Umranangal was commanding everything at Kotkapura and force in strength had gone there (the spot where protesters were sitting) from Ludhiana.

Meanwhile, sources have informed that SIT is making preparations to produce Umranangal before the Court in Behbal Klan firing case in which two Sikh youths were martyred by the Police cops and several others were left injured.
