CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Giving a gesture of seriousness towards punishing the culprits responsible for Kotkapura and Behbal Klan firing incidents, the Jail Minister of Punjab Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today suspended the Superintendent of Patiala Jail Jaspal Singh for providing luxury amenities to the arrested notorious IG Paramraj Umranangal. It is learnt that IG Paramraj Umranangal was being treated as a special guest in the Patiala jail and he was allowed to meet his several supporters without any permission.
Sources have revealed that the Jail Superintendent Jaspal Singh has been suspended following an investigation into the matter by the IG Jails.
It may be recalled here that Paramraj Umranangal was sent to Patiala jail for two weeks on February 26. He was arrested by the SIT in Kotkapura and Behbal Klan firing cases on February 18 and grilled for about a week after obtaining his police remand from the Faridkot Court.
