Ignoring Protest, SGPC Extends Services of Highly Paid Chartered Accountant for Five Years with 5% Increment

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—In a meeting held at SGPC’s headquarters in Amritsar Sahib on February 21, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee decided to extend the services of Chartered Accountant SS Kohli for the further five years with 5% increment. Till date, SS Kohli was getting Rupees 10 million per year for managing the accounts of the apex Sikh body and the institutions being run by it.

Sources have informed that initially the SGPC president had decided to extend the services of SS Kohli for further six years with 10% increment but after observing a sharp resentment among the executive members he reduced the increment by 50% and extension in services by one year.

Justifying the decision, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said that Kohli has a full-fledged team that works for the SGPC and other colleges and institutions. “He guided us about the taxes during the GST regime and his services are an asset for the apex body,” he added.
