Sacrilege Culprit Nabbed on Spot near Ropar

ROPAR, Punjab—A trimmed hair person was reportedly arrested in the Gurdwara Sahib of village Ramgarh (near Morinda, District: Ropar) on January 4 while committing sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The accused has been identified as Barjit Singh and it is learnt that he succeeded in damaging several articles inside the Gurdwara Sahib including the “Palki Sahib” (Palanquin).

Sharing the details with media, the local police post in charge Shinderpal Singh informed that the accused, Barjit “Singh”, entered into the Gurdwara premises at around 1 pm and sat on the corpus. “Another local resident, Malkit Singh, who had come to pay obeisance, observed the situation and tried to remove him from there during which an “Ang” of the holy corpus got damaged,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Police was called on the spot of incident. It is learnt that the accused Barjit Singh has been arrested by the Police and a case under section 295 of Indian Penal Code has been registered against him.
