SIT Interrogates Sukhbir Badal About Kotkapura and Behbal Klan Firing Incidents

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Sukhbir Badal, the former deputy chief minister of Punjab, today appeared before the special investigation team (SIT) constituted by the Congress led Punjab government to probe sacrilege and police firing incidents of Kotkapura and Behbal Klan. He appeared before the SIT at Punjab police headquarters in Chandigarh where he was interrogated for about an hour.

It may be recalled here that the SIT had summoned the former Punjab CM Parkash Badal, former Deputy CM of Punjab Sukhbir Badal and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. The SIT had questioned Parkash Badal at his residence in Chandigarh on November 16 while Akshay Kumar has been asked to appear before the SIT at Amritsar Sahib on November 21.

Interacting with media after appearing before the SIT, Sukhbir Badal informed that the SIT questioned him about undergoing meeting with Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. He added that when I counter-questioned the SIT members that who told you this then they said they can’t share.

“I told them I never met Akshay Kumar outside Punjab in my life. I met him at a sports function (in Punjab)”, he said.

Sukhbir Badal further said that he was not present in Punjab at the time of Kotkapura and Behbal Klan firing incidents about which he can present official records.

He claimed that all the questions posed to him by the SIT members were politically motivated.
