ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ ! (ਅੰਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੂਟਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਫਲ ਪੈਣ ਲਗੇ ਹਨ, ਅੰਬ ਪੱਕਣ ਲਗੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਅੰਬ ਪੱਕ ਕੇ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਾਲਕ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਂਬਾ ਨਾ ਖਾਣ, ਦਾਗੀ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ।

Kabir! (The mango trees are) bearing fruits and the mangoes are becoming ripe; however, they can reach the owner, only if they are not shaken off by the wind or spoiled by disease in the meantime. -Bhagat Kabir, Guru Granth Sahib, 1371
Message: If you have a mango tree in your yard you can pick the fruits easily but only if any bacterial infections or birds don’t get to them before you do. You must protect your fruits from such perils.
In other words, the fruits might not be able to survive the strong winds, insects, birds, infections or diseases before they fully ripen and become a good harvest if the owner is not watchful and vigilant.
Equally, there are many distractions and temptations which stray us from the righteous path and cause us to lose the game of life if we are not careful. We do need to protect the fruits of our life – our positive potentials and values. We need to protect them or nurture them in such a way that not only will they help us to taste the ripened fruits of life (spiritual peace and prosperity) but also lead us to the warm and loving embrace of the Master.
