Joint Memorial For Jaito and Bargari Martyrs To Come Up At Bargari

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Simranjit Singh Mann, who heads the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), has announced to build a joint memorial at Bargari commemorated to the martyrs of historic Jaito agitation and the martyrs of recent Behbal Klan tragedy. Notably, two innocent Sikh youths were recently martyred by the Punjab police at Behbal Klan by opening an unprovoked firing on peacefully protesting Sikhs on October 14, 2015.

While releasing a soft model of the proposed memorial prepared by party’s UK wing in collaboration with an architect Gurdial Singh Atwal in Jalandhar on October 26, Mann said that the memorial will be constructed on the land of Bargari’s village Panchayat.

It is pertinent to note here that the Sikh agitators used to stay at Gurdwara Sahib of Bargari during the Jaito Morcha (Agitation) in February, 1924.
