DSGMC to Launch Signature Campaign Seeking Release of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has announced to launch a signature campaign seeking release of political Sikh prisoner Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana who has been languishing in jail for the last 23 years. Notably, Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana was addressed capital punishment in 2007 for assassinating the former Punjab CM Beant “Singh” on August 31, 1995.

Sharing the development with media in Fatehgarh Sahib on October 24, the DSGMC leader Paramjit Singh Rana informed that an appeal will be made to the President of India with signature of more than 1,00,000 people seeking release of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana.

Rana added that the Shiromani Akali Dal, SGPC and DSGMC are continuously making efforts for the release of living martyr Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana. He added that the DSGMC is fully committed to help Bhai Rajoana in every possible way.

Bhai Rajoana’s foster sister Bibi Kamaldeep Singh Rajoana said on this occasion that Bhai Rajoana has been languishing in Indian jails for the last 23 years. She added that the Indian government is intentionally not concluding the mercy petition moved by SGPC in 2012 before the Indian president.
