SGPC Issues Official Letter to Elect New Executives on November 13

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—SGPC Today issued a notification to all SGPC members for participating in the General Assembly on November 13 for the annual elections of other office bearers, including President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

SGPC spokesperson Diljeet Singh Bedi told Sikh24 that on the eve of the interim committee meeting held at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib in Sultanpur Lodhi, it was decided to convene the General Assembly on November 13. He said that according to the resolution passed at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib, Dr. Roop Singh has today issued a letter no. 25447 to all SGPC elected members to join the General Assembly session. He said that this session will be held at 1 pm in the Teja Singh Samudri Hall head office of the SGPC.

In the second general house meeting of SGPC held on November 29 last year, Gobind Singh Longowal was elected as president with 154 votes out of the total 169 casted votes. Raghujit Singh was elected as senior vice president, Harpal Singh as junior vice president and Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala as general secretary. Unlike the previous years, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) had tried to give an impression of abiding full-fledged democratic values in electing the SGPC officials during this meeting.
