Punjab Government Constitutes SIT to Crack Sacrilege Cases

CHANDIGARH—Going ahead as per the request of his subordinates to crack sacrilege cases, the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has constituted a five member Special Investigation Team headed by Director Bureau of Investigation Mr. Prabodh Kumar. Notably, Captain Amarinder Singh had announced in the Punjab assembly on August 28 to hand over the investigation of sacrilege cases to SIT by withdrawing it from CBI.

Sikh24 has learnt that IG (Crime) Arunpal Singh, IG (Crime) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, SSP Kapurthala Satinder Singh and Commandant PRTC Jahankhelan Bhupinder Singh have been appointed in the SIT beside its head Mr. Prabodh Kumar and a letter to this effect has also been issued by the Director General of Police.

However, it is still unclear that whether the CBI has given back the investigation of sacrilege cases or not. The SIT won’t be able to become functional until the CBI doesn’t give back the sacrilege cases to the Punjab government.
