Sukhdev Singh Bhaur Sent to Ludhiana Jail till September 21

CHANDIGARH—SGPC member S. Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, who was arrested from Chandigarh on September 7, was presented before the  Nawanshehr Court on September 8 where the Court sent him to Judicial custody for 14 days. It is learnt that S. Sukhdev Singh Bhaur has been sent to Ludhiana jail.

Interacting with media after appearing before the Court, S. Sukhdev Singh Bhaur said that the case registered against him is politically motivated. He added that he respects every religion or caste and he doesn’t have any issue with anyone. “I had even apologized to the concerned community for the comment I made during speech at Bargari but still I have been indicted” said Bhaur.

It may be recalled here that the SGPC member Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, who also heads the Panthik Front, was arrested from Chandigarh by the Nawanshehr police on September 7. He was taken into custody by the Police immediately after registering an FIR No. 69 under sections 295-A of IPC and 66-A of IT Act against him in the police station of Banga for hurting the religious sentiments of Ravidas community. In the FIR, he has been accused of making “objectionable” comments against Sant Ramanand (Ballan) of the Ravidas community during his speech at Bargari on September 3.
