Daduwal Justifies Captain’s Move of Handing Over the Investigation of Behbal Klan Tragedy to CBI

MANSA—Contrary to the acting Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, the Sarbat Khalsa appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal has justified the Punjab government’s move of handing over the investigation of Kotkapura and Behbal Klan tragedies to the CBI. He has said that the CBI investigation was necessary to unveil several more truths about the Behbal Klan tragedy and punishing the guilty culprits.

Interacting with media at Mansa on July 31, Jathedar Daduwal appealed the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh to call a special session of the Punjab assembly to make public the report of Justice Ranjit Singh Commission and punish the guilty culprits. Hailing the Punjab government’s move of announcing compensations for the victim families, he said that the former SAD-BJP led Punjab government had tried to bury the matter which is highly vicious.

However, Jathedar Daduwal made it clear that the Bargari agitation will continue till success.

It is pertinent to note here that the Punjab government’s move of handing over the investigation of Kotkapura and Behbal Klan incidents to CBI has drawn sharp criticism from the Sikh masses. Sikhs are taking this move as an attempt to delay justice to the victim families by letting off the guilty culprits.

The acting Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, who has been sitting on strike at Bargari since June 1, had also annulled the Punjab government’s announcement on July 30.

Jathedar Daduwal, who is often targeted for his robust relations with the Congress leaders, is being criticized among Sikh masses for favoring the Punjab government’s move in contrast to Jathedar Dhian Singh Mand.
