BREAKING: AAP Relieves Sukhpal Khaira from Leading Opposition in Punjab Assembly

NEW DELHI—Legislator Sukhpal Singh Khaira has been relieved from the post of the leader of opposition in Punjab assembly by the senior AAP leadership. Notably, Sukhpal Singh Khaira had recently drawn flak of his party men for favoring the need for a referendum in Punjab. He had also opposed his party head Sri Arvind Kejriwal for tendering apology to alleged Drug trade’s kingpin Bikram Majithia.

Making the development public on social media, the senior AAP leader and Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia wrote, “AAP has decided to change its leader of opposition in Punjab. Sh HarPal Singh Cheema, MLA Dirba constituency shall be leader of opposition in Punjab Assembly”.

“I have discharged my duty as LoP with uttermost sincerity, dedication and fearlessness towards Punjab and Punjabi’s. If speaking the truth and espousing the cause of Punjab, Punjabi’s and Sikhs cost me LoP, I’m prepared to let go 100 such positions. Those at the helm have done what Cong-SAD-BJP wanted” Khaira wrote in reaction to his relieving by the senior AAP leadership.

Sukhpal Khaira had made public the conspiracy, in a live video on July 20, to create a rift between him and the senior AAP leaders Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia. In this video, he had accused the AAP’s state leadership of circulating false allegations that accused him of taking money from party workers.
