:dateline:Taking observation of the day by day falling credibility of leading Shiromani Akali Dal among Sikh community, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has given an advertisement in leading newspapers, offering compensation to the 325 former Jodhpur detainees who couldn�t get compensation from the government through the Court. The SGPC has invited the uncompensated Jodhpur to approach the SGPC by August 5 along with the proof of their detention.
Confirming the development, the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal said that the SGPC has already given jobs to the detainees and helped their children in education. �325 prisoners could not come forward for the legal battle due to economic constraints, but we are trying to locate them� he added.
It is pertinent to note here that the Congress led Punjab government had already announced to compensate all the 325 Jodhpur detainees who couldn�t get the compensation through the Court. Process for compensating the rest 325 Jodhpur detainees is underway.
The former Jodhpur detainee and Congress legislator Harminder Singh Gill has said that he has submitted a list of victims with the CM office. �At least 100 of them have died so it is difficult to locate the remaining victims� he added.
After demolishing the supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib in June-1984, the Indian army had arrested hundreds of Sikhs from the holy shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib. During several months scrutinizing, the Indian army had shortlisted 365 Sikh activists who were dubbed as dangerous terrorists and were sent to Jodhpur jail. Later, all of them were released in three batches after the prosecution failed to prove their �crimes� in the Court.
