Giani Gurbachan Singh Appeals Punjab Masses to Come Forward to Control Drug Menace

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Accepting the request made by the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh in written, the SGPC appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh on July 13 appealed the Sikh masses to make efforts to put control over the Drug menace in Punjab.

 

Interacting with media at Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat, Giani Gurbachan Singh said that the great Sikh masters have taught to avoid every type of inebriation. He added that the Sikh code of Conduct recommends the Sikhs only to keep inebriation of ‘Parshada’ (food). “Some people have pushed the entire Punjab state into the mouth of the monster named Drug menace just for the sake of their own profits” he added.

Giani Gurbachan Singh claimed that the Punjab government, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee, the Shiromani Akali Dal, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committees and several other bodies were making continuous efforts to control Drug menace but all their efforts are going in vain.     

Giani Gurbachan Singh has instructed the Sikhs to consider it their duty to put control over the Drug menace by identifying the victims living in their vicinity and make efforts to steer them in the right direction.

Suggesting the Punjab government to book Drug traders and put them behind bars, Giani Gurbachan Singh has also directed the Universities, Colleges and Schools to create awareness among youth about Drug abuse. He also appealed the singers and artists not to promote Drugs in their songs.
