Special Booklet Elaborating Distinctness of Sikh Identity Released by SGPC

AMRITSAR SAHIB—A  special booklet elaborating distinctive identity of Sikhs was released on April 26 by the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal at an SGPC run institute in Patiala. Scripted in English, the booklet contains information about distinct Sikh identity, history of Sikhs, international achievements of Sikhs, richness of Sikh culture & the religious symbols of Sikhism, information about primary time period when Sikhs started shifting abroad etc. The booklet also contains information about internationally recognized Sikh personalities and establishment of Gurdwaras in various countries.

Interacting with media, S. Gobind Singh Longowal informed that the booklet has been published to tackle problem of misunderstanding among foreigners about Sikh identity. He added that copies of these booklets will be sent to embassies and governments of various countries. “A copy of this booklet will also be gifted to every foreign representative who will come to pay obeisance at sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib” he said.

Longowal further informed that this booklet has been prepared by Dr. Prithipal Singh Kapur, Dr. Balkar Singh, Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon, Dr. Dharam Singh Patiala and S. Diljeet Singh Bedi.

SGPC appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh, SGPC’s senior vice president S. Raghujit Singh Virk, General Secretary S. Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala, S. Jarnail Singh Kartarpur, SGPC’s Chief Secretary Dr. Roop Singh, Additional Secretaries S. Balwinder Singh Jaura Singha and S. Diljeet Singh Bedi, Dr. Sardara Singh Johal, Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh, Dr. Chamkaur Singh, Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon, Dr. Balkar Singh, Dr. sarbjinder Singh, S. Pritpal Singh etc. were also present on this occasion.
