Giani Gurbachan Singh Expresses Concern Over Caste Based Gurdwaras

MALAUDH, Punjab—Interacting with media on January 28 at Malaudh, the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh expressed concern over the rising trend of establishing caste based Gurdwaras and crematoriums in the villages of Punjab. He said that there should be a single Gurdwara and crematorium in each village and every Sikh of that village should go there sidelining the caste differences.

It is noteworthy here that the trend of establishing caste based Gurdwaras in villages of Punjab is on peak. However, the Sikh tenets strictly prohibit discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and ethnicity.

Recently, an incident of barring a schedule caste family to organize Sri Akhand Path Sahib in Gurdwara Sahib of village Manawala had come to fore. SGPC President Gobind Singh Longowal had taken strict notice of this incident and had appealed the Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh to take strict action against the Gurdwara authorities.

  1. Giani ji this has been going on under your nose for last sixty years and its frequency increased under the regime of Badal and co who under the directions of rss wanted to destroy Sikh religion by any means. Unless we get rid of all these officers of SGPC and replace them with true Sikhs who only believe in Guru Granth Sahib ji and nothing else we are doomed.
