:dateline:Two Sikh students have topped the NEET examination. The NEET is an entrance examination in India, for students who wish to study any graduate medical course (MBBS/ dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD / MS) in government or private medical colleges in India. �Courses for NEET examination are conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves in 2013. However, many colleges and institutes had taken a stay order and conducted private examinations for admission to their MBBS and BDS courses.NEET 2017 entrance was held on 7th may 2017 results are awaited.
Muktsar based Navdeep Singh had topped the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), securing 697 marks out of 720 on June 23 to ace the premier medical entrance exam that 11.38 lakh students took on May 7 and 6.11 lakh cleared. At least 2.66 lakh were male aspirants, while 3.45 lakh were females.
Gurpreet Kaur, who hails from labourer family of village Nagra in Sangrur, has secured 241st rank in reserved category.
President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has announced to honour both Navdeep Singh and Gurpreet Kaur. He has said that these Sikh students have made entire Sikh community feel proud in the country. He added that each beneficiary will be given cash reward worth Rs. 50,000 plus a memento.
SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has said that Navdeep Singh has become a role model for upcoming generations as he has topped the exam while adhering to the Sikh tenets. Congratulating these toppers, Prof. Badungar has wished for their bright future.
SGPC appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh has also congratulated these two toppers for Punjab.
