Baptized Sikh student forced remove ‘Kakaars’ in Rajasthan to undergo IIT exam

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—A baptized Sikh student named Jaswinder Singh was reportedly forced to remove his Kakaars (articles of Sikh faith) to undergo the entrance exam for IIT in Rajasthan. The incident took place at the Mahavir Public School of Jaipur where the examination team denied entry of Jaswinder Singh into the examination hall.

Speaking to Sikh24, Jaswinder Singh informed that initially he was forced by the Examination team to remove the Kakaars to get entry into examination hall of Mahavir Public School of Jaipur. He further informed that as soon as his accompanies got apprised of it they immediately contacted SGPC authorities who in turn used its influence to get Jaswinder Singh to take his exam.

Meanwhile, the SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has strongly condemned the incident. He has said that the India was a secular and multi-cultural country and every citizen of it holds right to live his/her life with liberty and follow their religion.

By writing a letter to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundra Raje, SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has asked the Rajasthan government to take strict action against the examination team for forcing a Sikh student to remove articles of his religious belief.
