NEW DELHI—The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee election have been announced to take place on February 26. It will be first time since 1979 that the election will be held before the expiry of current house which will be completing its tenure on February 27.
Sikh24 has learnt from internal sources that the Union Minister of Home Affairs has issued a notice to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal to notify the election office.
The elections have largely been contested among two parties – the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi (Sarna) in past. However, this year, it could be a four corner contest with the Panthak Sewa Dal and the Sikh Sadbhawna Dal also contesting the elections. While the Sikh Sadbhawna Dal is new to the scene, under the leadership of Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala, it had earlier gained some momentum in Delhi, although it’s recent activity has been nominal.
Bhai Wadala claims support of many intellectuals, parcharaks, missionaries and keertanis however he will face a tough competition from the Panthak Sewa Dal which has a clean image in Delhi.
The Shiromani Akali Dal led by Sukhbir Badal has dominance over the current elected house of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. Manjit Singh GK is DSGMC President and Manjinder Singh Sirsa is its General Secretary. They took over control of the management by defeating Paramjit Sarna led Akali Dal Delhi.
It is learnt that the Panthik Sewa Dal backed by Aam Admi Party is also going to get into the fray this time in Delhi.
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee was carved out of supreme Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee in 1971. The DSGMC currently consists of an elected house of 46 members beside five nominations. The five nominations include two co-opted members, two from various country wide Singh Sabhas and one from Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee.
“ਰਾਜ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ” ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਤਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਰਾਜ ਲੈਣਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਚੋਟੇ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਪੂਰਨ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਰਬਸੰਮਤੀ/ਗੁਰਮੱਤਾ ਕਰਣ ਦੀ ਪੰਰਪਰਾ ਅਪਨਾਉਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਾਈ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਲਾਲਚ, ਇਰਖਾ ਵੱਧਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਘੱਟਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੰਥ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਸਰਬ ਸਵੀਕਰਿਤ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੈ ਕੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੰਥਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਾਈ ਪਈ ਹੈ ਓਥੇ ਬਨੇ ਬਨਾਏ ਰਾਜ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਾਬਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ, ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਲੀ ਨੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਰਾਜ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ।

Punjabi people must vote wisely
The Zohra Singh Commission report (which the Badals have kept secret) indicted Badal Government for police firing on Sikhs at Behbal Kalan and accuse them of major conspiracy to spread violence in Punjab. The report says the two Sikhs protesting beadbi were in the sitting posture and fired on from close range of about a yard and that firing was totally unwarranted as the youths were defenceless. The report also says cases of sacrilege were not being properly investigated because of political interference from Punjab Government. Why then would you vote for the Badals when their fingerprints are on beadbi and repressing Sarbat Khalsa (stopping the democratic right of Sikhs to gather and debate their own religious affairs in the light of beadbi and the corrupted SGPC). Also the word ‘regime’ is used by totalitarian governments that often oppress their own people. A democratic accountable government refers to itself as an administration. But then you know that being a fascist minded fellow, eh Harish?
