Delhi Gurdwara Committee Elections: Sukhbir Badal appoints 4 member committee

NEW DELHI—President of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhbir Badal has appointed a four member committee in wake of upcoming elections of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee to scrutinize the applications of various candidates seeking tickets to contest elections.

Speaking to Sikh24, SAD’s spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema informed that party’s General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa has been appointed as Chairman of the committee. Others in the committee include SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, Party’s Senior Vice-President and Member of Parliament Balwinder Singh Bhoondarh and Party’s General Secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra.

Dr. Cheema informed that the appointed committee will submit its final report to the party after screening all the candidates and the final decision of allotting tickets to candidates will be taken by President of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal.

Currently, the Shiromani Akali Dal led by Sukhbir Badal has dominance over the elected house of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. Manjit Singh GK is DSGMC President and Manjinder Singh Sirsa is its General Secretary.

It is learnt that the Panthik Sewa Dal backed by the Aam Aadmi Party is also going to get into the fray this time in Delhi besides the Shiromani Akali Dal led by Paramjit Singh Sarna.
