Gurbani Word Of The Day: sar-ṇaaee

ਸਰਣਾਈ (sar-ṇaaee)
Meaning: noun: Shelter, sanctuary, protection.

Quote:
ਤਾਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ   ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਰਣਾਈ॥
taatee vaau na lag-ee   paar-braham sar-ṇaaee.
I am in the sanctuary of the Supreme Being; the hot wind cannot touch me (i.e. slightest problem or pain cannot afflict me). – Guru Arjan Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 819

Message: Human life is riddled with challenges and adversities. Some severe, others mild. We have no control over the problems at times.

Our true strength lies in our reaction towards these issues, in how we tackle them. Having chosen to walk on the right path with the simple, honest and divine-centred living, we will be sheltered by faith, faith in the Divine, or if you will, in Divinity.

With the guidance of Gurbani, let us seek the eternal sanctuary of the Divine, our true shield of protection. Nothing can then usurp our peace of mind. We will be armed with true conduct. The hot winds of the world will leave us unscarred in this sanctuary.

Buffer yourself dear friends with the love and wisdom of the Divine!

Etymology: From Sanskrit sharaṇ (shelter, home, protection) → Pali → Prakrit → Gurbani saraṇ/saran.
