Ex-MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki Quits Election Campaign To Begins Sewa at Sri Harmandir Sahib

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—While political leaders of all parties are on their toes for the Punjab election campaign ahead, the Ex-MLA of Khadoor Sahib constituency S. Ramanjit Singh Sikki has begun sewa at Sri Harmandir Sahib, as per his yearly practise. His preference of serving the Almighty Lord’s home over campaigning for elections has wondered members of the public.

S.Ramanjit Singh Sikki has been nominated as a candidate from Khadoor Sahib constituency by the Congress party for the 2017 assembly polls.

It is pertinent to note here that S. Ramanjit Singh Sikki had quit from the Punjab assembly in October-2015 in protest of desecration of Holy Scripture of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at the village of Bath of his constituency. Later, he had also boycotted the by-poll in his constituency citing that the reason for which he had quit was still unresolved.

On being contacted by Sikh24, Sikki’s family member said that he was being asked by the party members to come back into the constituency for the election campaign, deferring his commitment for sewa for later. He refused, giving priority to conducting sewa of Guru and sangat.

Captain Amarinder Singh had also promised nabbing and punishing those elements responsible for state-wide desecration incidents if Congress succeeds in forming a government in Punjab after the assembly polls of 2017.
