Prof. Badungar hails BBC for starting News Broadcast in Punjabi

badungarAMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has appreciated the BBC’s initiative of starting news broadcasting in Punjabi language. He has said that the initiative will help the Punjabi language get international recognition.

“Punjabi is one of the main languages spoken worldwide and this broadcast will certainly help bring unbiased news to them.  We are greatly looking forward to this,” he told Sikh24.

Prof. Badungar said that while the Punjabi language was being given step-motherly treatment in the India, the news syndicate BBC has honoured the Punjabi community by giving it an international recognition.  “The state governments in Indian sub-continent needs to learn from BBC,” he added.

Hailing the Director General of BBC Mr. Tony Hall for enlisting Mata Bhag Kaur among brave ladies of the world, Prof. Badungar said that Mai Bhago didn’t only sacrifice her life for the cause of Sikh religion instead also inspired others.

    • Yes we have to rely on the Britishers national television station rather than on all of India’s media and the SGPC to do the same thing to promote Punjabi because it is the Sikh’s mother tongue language.
