NANDER, India—With the growth of social media, the Sikh community have steadily become more aware of elements in the Panth that are supporting anti-Sikh agendas.
For years, the Sikh community’s devotion and faith in respecting the institutions and traditions has been misused to provide a smoke-screen for those claim to be guardians of protecting the Guru’s Maryada passed down through unbroken lineages, yet promote anti-Sikh behavior and formed alliances with anti-Sikh forces.
Recently a video has gone viral on social media showing the Jathedar of one faction of Buddha Dal sharing stage at Gurdwara Hira Ghaat with RSS’ Madhavdas Mamtani of Nagar, in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
In accordance to the Sikh Rehat Maryada, only a Sikh qualifies to do Katha or Kirtan of Gurbani in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. However, in defiance of the Panthik Maryada, the Buddha Dal Jathedar, sits by the RSS preacher who misinterprets passages
Madhavdas Mamtani of Nagpur, a member of the RSS, was given stage to propagate distorted and anti-Sikh views by misinterpreting scriptural verses from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Granth. The RSS preacher claims that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Granth preach the teachings of Hindu gods like Krishan.
Further in the speech, the RSS preacher claims that mention of ‘Ram’ in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is veneration of the Hindu demi-god, as supposed to the One Divine Creator.
The objective of the hour-long speech was to convince the Sangat that Sikhi is an offshoot of Hinduism, and that the Sikh Gurus were devotees of the Hindu demi-gods. Madhavdas Mamtani (Nagpur) has formed a group under the name of “Shri Kalgidhar Satsang Mandal” whose aim is to “unite Sikhs and Hindus for scriptural discourse of Aad Bani and Bani of Dasam Granth.”
During the RSS preacher’s speech, Hindus within Guru Hira Ghaat Sahib, did Aarti with a plate and lights, and veneration of photo-idols of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, contrary to the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Sikh Rehat Maryada.
After singing Aarti shabads from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, he falsely claims that the Gurbani Shabads relating to Aarti are linked to the Hindu demi-gods.
Throughout the whole video, Madhavdas Mamtani misquotes Gurbani and misses out words when saying lines of Gurbani. Despite, the many errors, slander of Gurbani, and attack on Gurmat, the Buddha Dal Jathedar remains silent and refuses to correct the individual. Instead, the Buddha Dal Jathedar honors the man with a Siropa at the end of the anti-Sikh speech.
At the end of the video, the RSS preacher states that he has to go to other Gurdwaras where he is booked to do Kirtan, which includes Sachkhand Sahib, referring to Takht Sri Hazur Sahib.
It is no surprise, that the RSS has infiltrated Sikh insitutions openly now, with the support and blessings of some Sikh leaders and organizations that have sold out to anti-Sikh forces, when our institutions are not being managed by the Guru’s Sikhs.
In April 2015, the BJP appointed MLA Tara ‘Singh’ as President of Management Board of Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib Nander, irrespective of the fact that Tara Singh had not even filed nomination for this post.
According to sources, Tara ‘Singh’ is very close to the RSS. He firstly not Amritdhari, neither has he ever been a member of the board, and nor has he ever participated in the religious activities at Takht Sahib. Due to close association with RSS, he is known to participate only in the political activities of BJP. At the time, SGPC President Avtar Makkar had even opposed the appointment and told the media that the Maharashtra government led by BJP was interfering in the religious affairs of Sikhs. The then Badal-appointed Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar, Gurbachan Singh, had also said that Tara Singh was not eligible for the post and directed to appoint a person with religious nature. Despite, this the SGPC or Badal appointed Jathedars led no agitation or protest, and instead pro-longed silence shows an acceptance of the RSS managing that Takht Sahib.
