2017 Assembly Polls: Communication again breaks between Sidhu’s Awaz-e-Punjab forum and Aam Aadmi Party

Navjot Sidhu and Durgesh Pathak

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—As per reliable information available from internal sources, communication between Sidhu’s  Awaz-e-Punjab (AEP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has once again broken down for the second time. Notably, AAP and Congress were on toes to induct former cricketer turned politician Navjot Sidhu since his departure from the BJP.  Sidhu had earlier resigned from membership of Rajya Sabha in July this year.

On the condition of anonymity, a senior leader of AAP in Punjab said that Durgesh Pathak was negotiating with Navjot Sidhu. He said that the Sidhu led ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’ forum was demanding 30 assembly tickets, post of Deputy Chief Minister and minimum three cabinet posts from AAP.  He added that the AAP was not going to accept these conditions at any cost.

He maintained that the chances of pursuing talk with Navjot Sidhu had become negligible on the day when he had sought ticket for his wife as well as post of Deputy Chief Minister for himself as AAP was principled of not allotting more than single ticket to a family. But later on the condition of making alliance with ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’ forum, AAP had pursued talk with Navjot Sidhu again.

Notably, the news of Navjot Sidhu’s attempts of making negotiations with All India Congress Committee had surfaced the mainstream news portals of India. Navjot Sidhu had met the National Policymaker of Congress Prashant Kishore earlier this week but his expectations couldn’t be fulfilled by Congress either. Watching zero response from Congress, Navjot Sidhu had begun talk with AAP leadership but it also didn’t bear fruit.

Meanwhile, legislator Simerjeet Singh Bains (who is also a part of ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’ forum) has said that their forum didn’t ask for any post or assembly ticket from any party. He added that they were only listening to the proposals of these parties.

  1. If he cannot keep his word to Guru Gobind Singh Ji to keep his hair uncut then what hope you have he will keep his word of honour to anyone?

  2. He needs to set up an independent party with a clear defined goal and Policy.
If he is patient ,wise and visionary he can become the
    King of Punjab.

    • ‘King of Punjab’? You have not quite understood what democracy is about I think. When you get elected by the majority populace you are supposed to serve the public good not yourself. Sikhs call it ‘seva’.
