BREAKING: Canadian Sikh Scholar Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains passes away

:dateline:Surrey based renowned Sikh scholar Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains today passed away at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital of Ludhiana following a severe cardiac illness of two weeks. He was 80 years old and was admitted at Hero Heart Institute in DMCH premises two weeks ago after falling ill.

Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains was renowned for producing first multimedia encyclopedia of Sikhism, setting up the first multimedia Sikh museum at Khadoor Sahib and making efforts to create awareness about AIDS, drugs and other social evils by preaching about evils�around the Indian sub-continent.

He was conferred many awards by the Canadian government including �Order of British Columbia�, �Prime Minister Award� and �Governor General Caring Award�. Sri Akal Takht Sahib authorities had given him the title of �Sikh Scholar of Computer Age�. �He was also named twice in top 100 Sikh personalities in the world.

Dr. Bains�spent the�last 15 years of his life while serving Sikh community with noted environmentalist Baba Sewa Singh at Khadoor Sahib. He guided Baba Sewa Singh led Sikh seminary in preparing rural youth for civil and other competitive examination courses at the��Nishan-e-Sikhi� academy at Khadoor Sahib. �

SGPC President Avtar Makkar expressed condolences over the untimely demise of Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains by terming it as huge loss to Sikh community.

RAGHBIR SINGH BAINS FROM THE WHOLE MATTU FAMILY.HE LENT HIS HAND TO ANYBODY IN NEED OF IT.HE WAS A GO GETTER,NEVER QUITTER AND HIGHLY KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON WHO DEVOTED LAST 20 YEARS OF HIS LIFE TO SOCIAL CAUSES.WE WILL ALWAYS MISS HIM.MAY GOD ALMIGHTY REST HIS SOUL IN PEACE.
