SGPC issues formal notification to elected members regarding election on November 5

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The Supreme Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee (constituted to govern Sikh shrines) has issued a formal notification to all the 170 elected members regarding general meeting called on November 5.

Speaking with Sikh24, Chief Secretary of SGPC Harcharan Singh informed that the SGPC has received the acceptance letter issued by Union Ministry of Home Affairs via Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar to convene the meeting of SGPC members on November 5.

“The meeting has been scheduled to be held at Teja Singh Samundari Hall on November 5 at 12:15 pm,” he added.

He informed that all the 170 SGPC members have been issued the intimation letters on their registered addresses via Speed Post or Registered Post.  “In addition, the Gurdwara Managers in concerned constituencies have also been asked to intimate their SGPC members about the meeting to be held at Teja Singh Samundari Hall on November 5 at 12:15,” he added.

Notably, the current SGPC President Avtar Makkar is likely to be replaced on November 5. The general house of SGPC members will firstly elect a 15-member executive committee which in turn will elect the President, General Secretary and other office bearers of the committee.
