Quote:
kabeer kaaiaa kaachee kaarvee   keval kaachee dhaat.
saabat rakhahi ta raam bhaj   naahi ta binṭhee baat.
Kabir! The body is like an unbaked clay pot, a very fragile substance. If you wish to keep it safe and sound, then remember the Divine; otherwise, the thing will break (and go useless). – Bhagat Kabir, Guru Granth Sahib, 1376

Message: Through the use of alliteration, Bhagat Kabir draws our attention to the message – the fragility of our body. It is compared to an unbaked clay pot, an example many of his readers of that time could easily relate to. He emphasizes how easily it can be destroyed.

To keep our body safe and sound for our lifetime, we need to be conscious of the divine presence in it. We need to vibrate with it and regularly reflect on this. However, we are so totally engrossed in the outside world that we focus all our attention on propping up the body, failing to realize its fragile nature until it is too late.

We need to be even more aware that there is a permanent spark in our fragile bodies that is eternal. Our bodies are a temporary abode. What keeps us alive is the spiritual connection which is eternal. Remember the Divine. Strengthen your link with Him.
