LUDHIANA, Punjab—On the 50th anniversary of Punjab Day, 84 years old fasting Sikh activist Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa today gave up drinking even water. Currently Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is being force fed at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital against his wishes.
Talking with Sikh24, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa reiterated his stance for the release of political Sikh prisoner who have served mandatory terms of their sentences but are still languishing in Indian jails. Bapu Ji said, “Today on the 50th anniversary of Punjab Day, I am giving up water to conclude this struggle at the earliest.”
Bapu Ji added that from the past two years, the Punjab police had been force feeding him at the behest of Punjab government, however, he has remain consistent with his demands.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa also appealed the worldwide Sikh masses to attend Sarbat Khalsa 2016 scheduled to be held at Talwandi Sabo on November 10.
It may be recalled here that Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has been on hunger strike since January 16, 2015. During this about two years long peaceful struggle, he has to endure severe physical and mental torture by the Punjab government. The Punjab police has arrested him again and again after short intervals and starts injecting liquid diet into his body forcefully.

Long live Bapu Surat Singh Ji. These mahants so called panthetic government should be called PATHETIC ….. they have blood sucking individuals bowing to RSS chamche and have not once given thought to Bapu Ji. He will always be a great hero in sikh history.
