Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar slams RSS for provoking Sikh sentiments

KAPURTHALA, Punjab—Slamming the right wing Hindu body Rashtriya Sikh Sangat (RSS) for provoking Sikh sentiments by wearing ‘Gatra’ with knives resembling ‘Kirpan’, Jathedar Narinder Singh Khusropur warned the saffron party of serious consequences if it doesn’t put control over its anti-Sikh activities.  During a meeting on October 12, Khusropur said that the RSS was conspiring to disturb communal harmony of Punjab and this will never be tolerated.

Jathedar Narinder Singh Khusropur, who is District President of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (SADA) from Kapurthala, held an emergency meeting of Sikh activists on October 12 in Kapurthala to chalk out a strategy to tackle attacks of RSS on Sikhi in future.

Addressing the meeting, Jathedar Khusropur said that Guru Sahibs have taught us to respect every religion but not at the cost of self respect. He added that the Sikh community won’t tolerate any attack on its sacred articles of faith.

SADA’s youth wing activists Bhai Harnek Singh Biharipur, Bhai Gurpreet Singh Bunty and Bhai Jagdeep Singh Vanjh said that the pro-Hindutva body RSS should refrain from attacking Sikh faith otherwise it would have to face serious consequences.

Bhai Sahib Singh, Bhai Gurmeet Singh Mauthanwal, Bhai Sher Singh, Bhai Jaspreet Singh, Bhai Gurpreet Singh Malhi, Bhai Gursahib Singh, Bhai Jaspal Singh Khurana, Bhai Dhira Singh, Bhai Sabi Singh, Bhai Yodha Singh, Sri Ajay Sharma, Bhai Gurpreet Singh Karony, Bhai Vishal Singh, Bhai Steven Singh, Bhai Gurwinder Singh, Bhai Baljit Singh Balli, Sonu Khusropur, Bhai Maha Singh and others attended the meeting convened by Jathedar Narinder Singh Khusropur.

It may be recalled here that the RSS members had conducted a march in Jalandhar on ‘Dussehra’ eve wearing ‘Gatra’ with knives resembling ‘Kirpan’ (an article of Sikh faith). The news of March outraged the Sikh masses and several Sikh bodies had sought indictment of RSS activists under section 295-A for hurting the Sikh sentiments.
