AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—412th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was arduously observed at the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Harmandir Sahib on September 2. The parkash purab (first installation ceremony) of Guru Granth Sahib was celebrated here on September 2 as per the amended Nanakshahi calendar.
A religious procession took place in the morning from Gurdwara Ramsar to Sri Harmandir Sahib. Under the patronage of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Panj Pyares (the five beloved ones of Guru Sahib) lead the religious procession in which all the local religious societies and organizations took part besides the common Sikh masses. The procession was warmly welcomed by the Sikh devotees on the way despite hot weather.
Manifestation of rare Sikh artefacts was held at Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Ji from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm in the morning. Special lighting was performed at Sri Harmandir Sahib in the evening following the recitation of Rehraas Sahib. Renowned Ragi Jathas and Preachers addressed the religious discourse in a program held at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in the night and delighted the Sikh devotees with melodious Kirtan.
