Santa Banta Pvt Ltd Bollywood Film Discriminates Against Sikhs

NEW DELHI—Santa Banta Pvt Ltd is scheduled to be released on April 22, 2016 and revolves around two characters who are shown as Sikhs.  The movie was earlier given the green light by the Censor Board and the Union Government of India, however, the decision was challenged by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee in the Delhi High Court.

In its plea, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee stated that the movie is disheartening and will affect the Sikh community’s image.  A Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice J. Nath on March 23 asked the Santa Banta PL promoters to submit a digital copy of the movie, along with all promotional material for further screening.

Earlier, a petition had been filed with the Supreme Court of India seeking a ban on “Sikh jokes”.  In response to the petition, the Supreme Court stated that India is proud of the Sikhs, but did not implement any measures to stop such jokes.  The Supreme Court bench asked the Delhi Gurdwara Sikh Management Committee to provide guidelines on how such jokes can be stopped.

“Akashdeep Sabir was called by our central body in Mumbai, Sri Guru Singh Sabha Dadar, to discuss this issue. The movie was also screened and it is really painful to see that Sikhs have been shown as dumb in the movie,” stated the Sri Guru Singh Sabha from Mumbai in a petition filed online against the movie.  Sri Guru Singh Sabha Mumbai is seeking a ban on the movie.

Upon screening the movie, the Singh Sabha stated that Sikhs are portrayed as comical characters in it. “We have been fighting against Sikh jokes for a long time and this upcoming movie is fuel to the fire.  Releasing this movie would be in contempt of court,” said Sri Guru Singh Sabha Dadar.

Akashdeep Sabir, the director, stated, “Please see the film and you will realise they are doing a certain act for a reason and not because they are jokers.”  Sabir, the crew, and the singers (Diljit Dosanjh and Mika in particular) have faced the criticism of Sikhs on social media for their contribution to this movie.

I’LL ALWAYS SAY THAT WE LOVE HINDUS BUT NOT THE PEOPLE LIKE U AUR ANY WRONG PERSONS OF YOUR RELIGION SHOCKING THING IS THAT THE PEOPLE LIKE U BECOME SUCCESFULL IN DEPRESSING THE VOICE OF SIKHS AND FORCING THEM TO CUT THEIR HAIRS AND BEARDS BY NOT PROVIDING THEM THEIR RIGHTS…

    • You really do not understand what fascism is do you? I suppose that’s why you can so easily support the RSS. I suggest you look at the video ‘Rise of Fascism in Indian subcontinent under Hindutva regime [JNU…
February 29, 2016’ under the multimedia section of this website to give you some sort of a clue what to look for so you don’t embarrass yourself.
So called ‘Sehjdhari’ SIkhs is not religiously sanctioned in Sikhism. We do not have a class system where if you are baptised in the faith and keep the 5 kakars that Sri Guru Gobind Singh told his SIkhs to you are called Keshdhari Sikhs and thos ethat ‘opt’ out are somehow recognised as Sehjdharis. You are either a Sikh or you not jst as you are either pregnant or not. The term ‘Sehjdhari’ (which means slow adopter) is used as a flag of convenience by those who have a faint conviction in Sikh doctrine but are unable or unwilling to commit to it the discipline of becoming an adherent (which you can only do through baptism into the Khalsa). As such Sehjdharis are really little different form anyone who is not a practising Sikh who comes to the Gurdwara (as Gurdwaras welcome all humanity) but such non-adherents are obviously not also given the right to perform Sikh religious practice (such as touching Sri Guru Granth Sahib) or determine Sikh religious policy in the same way that when you are having an operation you want to only a qualified surgeon not just a person in off the street with a slight interest in medicine to work on you.

  2. Some suggestions .
    1) By Bedabi nothing changes . Sikhs have not stopped worshipping Guru Granth Sahib .It is a stupid and childish act .
    2) Let Police experts decide on how to stop loss of lives during crowd control.

    • You are a complete and utter disgrace RSS Harinder. First of all you pretend to be a Sikh and you don’t even understand that SIkhs do NOT ‘worship’ Sri Guru Granth Sahib! Hardly surprising I suppose considering you can’t even name the 10 Gurus before him. We revere and venerate Sri Guru Granth Sahib as our eternal living Guru and use the Gurmat of his Bani to ‘worship’ God alone! When he is desecrated it is the same as having the flesh torn from our living Guru’s body and burnt – totally intolerable for a Sikh to stand by and do nothing! That is the basic thing you do not and will never as a Hindu comprehend.
      2) Let police ‘experts’ decide how to stop loss of lives in crowd control?!! They shoot dead Sikhs protesting the sacrilege of their Gurul! They protect such murderers. They have engaged in decades of extra judicial kidnapping, torture and murder of Sikhs.

    • Hinduvta agents and their proxies (such as paid drug addicts) are doing it. A number have been caught and released and one was even posing as a Nihang at Anandpur Sahib as an infiltrator.
2 & 4) They are doing it to see how far they can have got and can still go with emasculating Sikhi in Punjab which is the ultimate aim. They have used decades of police extra judicial atrocities against Sikhs and successfully infiltrated the Sikhi leadership of the corrupted Akali Dal and SGPC which have enacted anti-Sikh policies – giving pardons to heretics like Ram Rahim, denigrating the principle of Miri Priri and the role of the panj pyare etc. To desecrate Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the ultimate test. If you do that and Sikhs are too feeble to protest you know you have sufficiently weakened if not broken the martial spirit of the Sikhs which is required if the next step on the Hinduvta agenda is to be achieved. Namely this is the total subjugation of the Indian Muslim and Christian populations which unlike Sikhism can be branded as anti national and foreign as both those religions were birthed in the middle east.

    • The Indian Express has an article on Punjab ‘ghar wapsi’ programme dated March 28, 2016 which perfectly shows what the Hinduta mafia are up to in their divide and conquer policy. Why did Modi (head of HInudvta party BJP and affiliate to terrorist Hindu organisation the RSS) agree to ‘Sehajdhari’ Sikhs have been barred from voting in SGPC polls? ‘WITH THE Rajya Sabha passing a legislation barring Sehajdhari Sikhs from voting in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections, Hindu organisations have launched a campaign, including on social media, asking the 70 lakh-strong community to “identify with their origins and join Hinduism”. While the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has started “village-level interactions” to “enlighten” Sehajdhari Sikhs, a little-known outfit called Hindu Nyay Peeth has started distributing pamphlets in some villages of Ludhiana and Bathinda to convey that Hinduism was “always open” for them.
“The interactions have started in rural Punjab and soon seminars will be held at the grassroot-level to tell Sehajdhari Sikhs that they are not different from Hindus. We have no problem with Sehajdharis remaining in Sikhism, if they get respect and rights but if not, they should turn towards their origin. There is no need to get forcefully converted to Christianity or Islam,” said Sukhpal Singh, national executive member, VHP.
On March 16, the Rajya Sabha passed the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill 2016, excluding the Sehajdharis from voting in the fiercely contested SGPC elections, mostly won by the Shiromani Akali Dal and its allies. The Bill is expected to come up in Lok Sabha next month.’ By attacking Sri Guru Granth Sahib and desecrating him they can say that those ‘Sikhs’ who protest such beadbi – and they are obviously going to prominently be baptised adherents bearing the readily identifiable visual aspects of a Sikh that ‘Harinder’ takes great exception to – uncut beards and hair, turbans, kirpans et al – are ‘orthodox’, ‘hardliners’ in their ‘over-reaction’. Breaking off Sehajdarhi Sikhs who by definition have a much fainter conviction they can rebrand baptised Sikhs as then being ‘radicals’, ‘extremists’, and ‘militants’ and then use ‘justifiable’ force to brutally repress them if not outright kill them as has already happened with 2 Sikhs protesting beadbi who were shot dead by Punjab police officers who have now mysteriously disappeared into the ether.

    • ‘Please do things what ever you feel is right’? Sikhs cannot even protest against beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib without being shot to death by police. How many of them do you want to get killed for protesting the release of this slanderous film?

    • If you really believe that then presumably you will demand that the films the Indian Government and its censorship board have banned featuring Sikhs such as Delhi 1984, Kaum De Heere, Amu, Hawayein and The Mastermind Jinda Sukha also be allowed to be shown in India? No, of course not because those films show Sikhs in positive light and even depict circumstances sure to prick conscience whereas the hypocrites only want to present Sikhs in negative light and as foolish Santo Banto cariacatures that they can laugh at and encourage others to laugh at too. That’s exactly what the Nazi’s did in the run up to their extermination of the Jews by feeding their population consistent negative and derogatory imagery of Jews during the 1930s so as to dehumansie the Jewish people and decouple them from the Germanic body so that they too could be seen by the wider German population in time as being ‘trouble makers’ and ‘not really Aryans’ paving the way for closing of eyes and mouths when those same Jews were persecuted and discriminated against. In 1984 the Indian Sarkar banned Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom temporarily for its “negative” depiction of Indians but in 2016 it is quite content for Sikhs in their distinctive and identifying dastaars to be depicted as figures of fun and mockery rather than the heroes they really are.

    • Yes harinder you are right. Why take that stuff seriously? I mean, shouldn’t that lucha sauda ram rahim taken this advice also when a comedian did a short skit on him? Oh wait, he has Z+ security given to him for some odd reason. Why is that??? Hmmmmmm, I wonder…..

      • They all feel very happy mocking Sikhs . It gives them a cheap thrill .
Giving Z category they create for them an imaginary fear from the Big Hearted and Kind Sikhs.
