It is known that theUK Governmentwill havebeen complicit in his arrest, as the Indian government had provided the UK with a dossier of accusations against UK Sikhs that it requested help in taking action against. Parmjit Singh, amongst others, was one of the individuals listed.
When Indian PM Narendra Modi visited the UK, he personally handed the dossier to David Cameron. The dossier was compiled by his security advisor Ajit Doval, who incidentally, was one of the key individualsinstrumental in planning Operation Bluestar, leading to the government’s attack on Harmandar Sahib (the Golden Temple), in Amritsar in 1984.
It seems as ifthe UK have attempted to mask their involvement by waiting for Pamma to step off-shore, andusing Interpol to make the arrest.
The fear now is that Parmjit Singh will be deported back to India, where torture and ill-trreatment will await him. This type of inhumane treatment is the norm in India, and is especially experienced bySikhs who might attempt to be critical of the Indian Government in any shape or form.
Lawyers from Sikhs for Justice and theSikh Council UK have communicated with Parmjit Singh and his family in Portugal, andare conveningto fight his case.
