:dateline:Following the visit of Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal to the families of Kotkapura martyrs, Rahul Gandhi too visited the families. �During his visit to�to families of Bhai Gurjit Singh in village Sarawan and Bhai Krishan Bhagwan Singh in village Behbal Kalan, the two who were killed�in gun-fire opened by Punjab police, Gandhi appealed to Punjab Government to arrest the guilty police officers immediately.
Extending his condolences to the deceased families, Gandhi announced to handover a memorandum to the President seeking strict action against the police contingents responsible for opening gun-fire on peacefully protesting Sikhs. He appealed to�youth to build pressure on the government to take�strict measures against the culprits.
While Gandhi’s visit has been termed as a “publicity stunt” by the Akalis, it is important to note that so far no senior Akali leader has visited either of the families. �Absence of the Akali leaders was noticed at the funeral and�bhog of both Sikhs.
