—Fresno branch of Gurdwara Nanaksar yesterday passed a resolution banning all preachers who refuse to join the protests seeking arrests of culprits who caused sacrilege to Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Head of Gurdwara Nanaksar on Cherry Road in Fresno, Baba Kartar Singh, met with a number of Sikhs and agreed to ban any ragis or katha vachiks who do not protest the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
Baba Kartar Singh said that he is disturbed by the incidents taking place in Punjab, but what hurt him more is absence of noted ragi jathas and katha vachiks from the protests. “I am deeply hurt that leaders of Nanaksar except for a few noted persons have joined the protests or attended funerals of the Sikhs shot dead by the police,” he said.
A number of Sikhs from Fresno area who were present at the meeting jointly signed a letter stating –
“Whichever parcharik, saints or leader of the Nanaksar organization fails to attend protests relating to sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Punjab, will face complete boycott from Gurdwara Nanaksar Cherry (Fresno). Such persons will not be allowed to speak from stage.”
The letter was signed jointly by 25 members of the sangat.
