Amritsar—The appointed Akal Takht Jathedar’s move on pardoning Gurmeet Ram Rahim has shaken Panthik circles. Different Sikh leaders are condemning the move in their own point of views. Statements of prominent Sikh leaders have been presented below:
President of United Akali Dal Bhai Mohkam Singh has said that only Takht Jathedars have pardoned the Sirsa cult chief, not Sikh community.
Bhai Papalpreet Singh (General Secretary, Sikh Youth Front) has said that Jathedars might forgive the Sirsa cult goon under political pressure but the Singhs who attained martyrdom while struggling against Gurmeet Ram Rahim will never pardon him.
Spokesperson of Dal Khalsa has termed the move, a politically pressurized decision of Jathedars.
President of Sikh Students Federation S. Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad has declared the Jathedar’s move of pardoning Gurmeet Ram Rahim a historical mistake. He has said that a call for Sarbat Khalsa will be given after taking other Sikh bodies into confidence.
President of Sikh Students Federation (Mehta) Bhai Paramjit Singh Khalsa has also said that the decision has been taken under political pressure. He added that it has been done to catch vote bank in assembly election of 2017.
Former SGPC member and Chief of Akal Purakh Ki Fauj Advocate Jaswinder Singh has stated that the Sirsa cult chief didn’t use the word ‘apology’ even for once, then how the Jathedars pardoned him?
