JAMMU & KASHMIR—Under pressure of sharp protests by Sikhs in Jammu, Government had to reach an agreement with Sikh leaders to keep the state run smoothly. The talk between Government and Sikhs concluded with magisterial investigation of martyrdom of Shaheed Bhai Jashjeet Singh, transfer of SSP and several other demands by Sikhs.
The Government also lifted the curfew in Jammu and moved out the Army and paramilitary forces from there. However, prohibitory orders under Section 144 still remain enforced in the district.
Conditions in Jammu had been reported peaceful but some parts of Jammu are still tense. The Army held flag march in some parts of Jammu on the 4th consecutive day of disturbance in Jammu.
It is noteworthy that an innocent Sikh youth named Bhai Jashjeet Singh was martyred by the bullets fired by the Police in clash over tearing of posters of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale by Jammu Police. Police Cop Munish Saini following SSP Uttam Chand orders, targetted Bhai Jashjeet Singh on point blank range.
