AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Various Sikh organizations will today block trains from 12 to 2 PM today to protest lack of Government action in releasing political prisoners who have completed their terms.

Organizations have called upon Sikhs from all over Punjab to join the protest at the Amritsar railway station.

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has been on hunger strike since January 16 to seek release of Sikh political prisoners.  Sikh leaders had earlier met with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Badal to negotiate the release of Sikh prisoners.

While the Government promised concrete steps to release political prisoners, Sikh leaders expressed the need to continue protests to build pressure on the Punjab Government.
