Akal Takht Jathedar Directs SGPC President To Ensure Employees Don’t Indulge in ‘Patitpuna’

Giani Gurbachan Singh newAMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—”The main duty of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is to spread Sikhi, but its own functionaries, employees and their families indulge in ‘Patitpuna’ (trimming hair) and violate Sikh Maryada (code of conduct). This happens due to malfunctioning of those who are at the helm of the supreme Sikh body.”

These words were uttered by Sri Akal Takht Sahib jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh citing the reference that on direction of the then SGPC president Sant Chanan Singh, employees of the body used to face investigation continuously whether they violated Sikh maryada, and accused were warned of the violation and punished accordingly. He said nowadays it has discarded such discipline.

He asked the SGPC president to ensure such kind of surveillance in order to bring employees and their family members into the fold of Gurmat.

Denying the reports of efforts being made by Hindu fascist force RSS to ruin Sikhi as separate religion, he opined that nobody from outside could dare to do so, but the Sikhs faced threat from Sikhs and some insiders played role of traitors.

Again justifying his statement on adopting strategy of having 4-children, he said that policy of having single child followed by Sikh families proves to be great loss for Sikhi.
