Rashtriya Sikh Sangat To Increase Activities in Rural Punjab

RSS-volunteersJALANDHAR, Punjab—Hindu fascist organization, Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, is looking to expand its base in rural areas of Punjab on war-footing. State co-convener of the organisation Brig Jagdish Gagneja (retd) has stated that due to the political dominance of its political wing, the BJP, RSS was set to open its branches in all villages of Punjab.

In a statement issued here, the Hindutavi leader claimed that the RSS had so far succeeded only in its 20 per cent expansion plan in rural areas of the state. He said the number of branches in the state had already increased from 593 to 689 since the past nearly a year.

“The organisation is giving top priority to the struggle of rooting out caste division, which prevails mainly in rural Punjab that had separate worship places and even cremation grounds for the Dalits”, he said.

To give the impression of being a pro-Punjabi organization, Brig Gagneja claimed that its wing Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha had passed a resolution that the medium of language in Punjab at primary levels should be Punjabi.  This statement is in direct contrast of BJP’s national ideology, where they are promoting Hindi as the “national language” and killing separate identity of other languages.

It may be recalled that the RSS has been working for more than 100 years on ruining separate identity of various religions and ethnic groups in order to turn Indian peninsula into single nation country with dominance of Hindu ethos. Its growing activities in Punjab have worried the Sikhs who are conscious about their own identity.
