AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Sikh24 has learnt from internal sources that no name was sent to Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat by any Sikh organization for 18-member panel to be constituted by Akal Takht appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh on directions of SGPC to resolve long pending issue of Nanakshahi Calendar.
Giani Gurbachan Singh had asked the Sikh bodies to send the names of their representatives for the panel within a week but apparently, no Sikh organization has shown interest in joining the panel. Such situation demonstrates lack of coordination between Akal Takht Sahib office and various Sikh organizations.
It is worth mentioning that Giani Gurbachan Singh had announced to induct representatives of SGPC, American Sikh Gurdwara Committee, Canada, Europe based Sikhs, along with Sant Samaj in the proposed committee. Various Panthik organizations had rejected the committee before its formation for not giving representation to key Panthik bodies and Sikh scholars.
