JALANDHAR, Punjab—Panchayats of villages situated on and nearby to the Guru Gobind Singh Road connecting Sri Anandpur Sahib and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, have passed a resolution to close all the liquor and beer shops situated on this road.

President Bhai Darshan Singh Gholia of Sikh Body Akal Sahai said that many historical Gurdwaras are situated on this road, but the large number of such shops on this road put a negative effect on the psyche of pilgrims. He demanded from the Punjab Government that all the liquor shops should be terminated on this road.

Bhai Gholia said that if the Punjab Government will not take any stand regarding this, then they will start struggling by creating a public movement. Bhai Rajvir Singh Ghuman, Bhai Lakhvir Singh Randiala, Dr. Harchand Singh Chakkar etc. were present on this occasion.
