CHANDIGHAR, Punjab—Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Badal constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting of IG Border Range Mr. Ishwar Chander and Amritsar Commissioner of Police Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh to probe the Tarn Taran shooting incident.
It may be recalled that some Akali leaders and councilors had attacked Raja Joshi, the younger brother of Punjab BJP leader and cabinet minister Anil Joshi and some other leaders.
The Chief Minister has directed the IG Border and SSP Tarn Taran to take all possible measures to avert the recurrence of any such and ensure that law and order is maintained at all costs.
A spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Badal was in constant touch with IG Border and SSP Tarn Taran to keep himself updated on the case. Meanwhile, the Chief Minster has reiterated his government’s full commitment to the maintenance of law and order and upholding the rule of law in the state. The Chief Minister also discussed the issue with the BJP state unit President Mr. Kamal Sharma. He has also asked the SAD Secretary and Spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the case aswell.
