Sikh Prisoner Update: Gurdwara Parmeshar Dwar Witnesses Heavy Police Deployment

PATIALA, Punjab—Almost immediately after the highly successful 1 January 2015 Lakhnaur Sahib Diwaan in support of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s campaign to free Sikh prisoners, there has been a heavy Police presence at Gurdwara Parmeshar Dwar Sahib, headquarters of the ‘Parmeshar Dwar Gurmat Parchar Mission’ initiated by Panthik Parcharak Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa Dhadrianwale.

During the monthly Gurmat Diwaan at Parmeshar Dwar Sahib on 14 January 2015, Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa disclosed how their every move has been closely monitored by the authorities and how the Police have been blockading the Parmeshar Dwar entrance and exit points. They said as soon as their vehicle leaves, they are questioned about where they are going and why. When they are told that the Jatha are going to a Diwaan, the Police reply they will also follow. Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa explained how it is the first time in sixteen years where the authorities have begun watching and following every move so closely and publicly to this extent.

A few days ago, a DSP officer is believed to have been sitting for a whole day at the entrance gates, ensuring Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa were not able to leave from Parmeshar Dwar. They explained there is much that happens which not all are aware of. Just because one does not speak about these issues in the public, it does not mean they do not happen. But due to questions being raised by a small part of the community, these answers have to be transparently disclosed to the public.

They said the more support there is from the people, the more responsibility one carries and they will never make any such move that will risk endangering the nation. Sikhs must form the ultimate love for Guru Granth Sahib Ji and feel pain for the Khalsa Panth from within, and then the passion for communal unity must follow.

Certain elements working against the nation are continually endeavouring to look for any excuse to put a ban on the Gurmat Parchar Diwaans. Nevertheless, Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa will always independently speak the truth and come under no ones influence at any cost. These people are looking for excuses to register a number of fabricated cases and put them behind bars. At the 14 January 2015 Diwaan, 706 people received Amrit. Those working against the nation want this to stop also.

Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa condemned some elements of the Indian media who have often, irresponsibly, labelled Sikh prisoners as “terrorists”. They described the inappropriate use of this word for Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences as totally appalling.

Furthermore, they reiterated their pledge to openly support and stand with any person who will campaign for the release of those imprisoned Sikh’s languishing behind bars without reason.

The family members of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, currently in hospital but still on hunger strike, along with prominent members of the campaign were believed to have been present at Parmeshar Dwar for the Diwaan.
