I Will Go to Supreme Court if Jathedar Nandgarh is Sacked: Sarna

2014-11-13- nandgarhNEW DELHI, India—Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi president Parmjit Singh Sarna has warned Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar that if the core panel of SGPC would pass a resolution for the removal of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh, his party would take the matter to Supreme Court.

In a statement issued here, Sarna said SGPC did not have an elected house and Supreme Court allowed it to form a care taker committee of 15 members whose chairman is Makkar. This committee has only the right to manage routine affairs and did not have right to appoint or remove Jathedar of any Takht.

He said Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh works truthfully and challenges Brahmnical forces by raising his voice in support of the original Nanakshahi Calendar which represents the separate identity of Sikhism. He said so-called saints who demand

withdrawal of Nanakshahi Calendar play into the hands of these forces, namely RSS and Badal, also act like a puppets in the hands of these anti-Sikh forces to woo the voters or followers of these so-called saints.

“If the executive panel of SGPC goes for the removal of Jathedar Nandgarh in the meeting of Jan 17, we will knock the door of Supreme Court to not only demand reinstatement of Jathedar Nandgarh, but also dissolution of the care taker committee”, he added.
