AMRITSAR SAHIB—Reacting strongly over the move by the Badal government to stop Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa from entering Punjab, his wife Bibi Jasbir Kaur and son Bhai Jujhar Singh said that the government has reminded them about the rule of cruel Mughal ruler Zakria Khan.

Bibi Jasbir Kaur and Bhai Jujhar Singh were here to participate in the Bhog ceremony of Sri Akhand Path Sahib in Sri Darbar Sahib complex held for the well being of Bhai Khalsa and the release of Sikh political prisoners. Bhai Khalsa was to attend the ceremony as he had already announced, but the government did not allow him to go to Amritsar Sahib. On behalf of him, his family members including his wife and son, came to Darbar Sahib to attend the ceremony but Punjab police tried its best to stop them on the way. There were reports of Police barricades across Punjab to ensure a large scale march did not go forward.

Bibi Jasbir Kaur said she was outraged that her husband had been urging appointed Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh for one year to ensure the release of Sikh detainees languishing in various jails of India, but so far he has disappointed him. She said the Punjab government is not a Sikh government as it has restricted a Sikh from visiting Darbar Sahib. It has restricted that Sikh who is on hunger strike for 56 days and he wanted to have a glimpse of Darbar Sahib as his last wish.

“Such restrictions have reminded me of the rule of Zakria Khan who imposed such kind of restrictions of not allowing any Sikh to pay obeisance at their supreme shrine”, she said.

Bibi ji repeatedly warned that if anything would happen with the fate of her husband, Giani Gurbachan Singh and Parkash Badal would be held responsible by Sikhs.

Bhai Jujhar Singh said that yesterday, after being permitted by Haryana government to go to Amritsar Sahib, Punjab Police humiliated them and Sikh Sangat by stopping them on 4-5 places from Shambu barrier to Sri Amritsar Sahib for many hours. He said such dirty tricks by the government has convinced him that indeed Sikhs are still slaves in India.

Both said they are not worried about Bhai Khalsa because he is struggling for the cause of the Sikh nation.

On being asked, Jujhar Singh said SGPC, Punjab government, and Giani Gurbachan Singh are playing a high level drama over the issue of Sikh prisoners and this reality has been revealed by Punjab DGP Saini—who has been responsible for the murders of thousands of Sikhs. Nephew of Bhai Khalsa, Yadwinder Singh, spokesperson Bhai Amarjit Singh, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib former Jathedar Giani Kewal Singh and other luminaries were also along with them.
