RSS Played Key Role in Meeting of Sikh Leaders with Rajnath Singh

Rajnath-Singh_42NEW DELHI, India—Rashtriya Sikh Sangat (RSS) has claimed that they are behind the meeting of Sikh leaders with the Central Home Minister. RSS claimed that they arranged this meeting in some earlier meetings with the Home Minister to make the environment smooth. RSS has also demanded that Sikh detainees who have already completed their life sentences should be released as soon as possible and the black list of Sikh names should also be terminated.

A team from Punjab met Home Minister Rajnath Singh to sort out the Sikh issues. Chiranjiv Singh (Convener, RSS), Gurcharan Singh Gill (President, RSS), Ainash Jaiswal (National General Secretary, RSS), Dr. Avtar Singh Shastri (Media Incharge, RSS), Baba Harnam Singh Dhuma (Chief of Damdami Taksal), Baba Sukhchain Singh (General Secretary), Former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Jasbir Singh Rode, Jathedar of Kesgarh Sahib Giani Mall Singh, Head Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh, Manjit Singh of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee etc. met Sr Rajnath Singh. The team explained to the Home Minister that some of the Sikh detainees are aged between 65 to 85 years and some are imprisoned in jails for more than 20 years. They said that militancy has now fully finished in Punjab, so the central government should release all the political prisoners of the militancy period. The team submitted a list constituting 78 Sikh detainees to be released.

Home Minister Sri Rajnath Singh has promised that Central Government will interfere in all those issues from which the law doesn’t oppose them. The team also urged the Home Minister to terminate the black list of Sikh names. They explained that some of the Sikhs who left Punjab in search of peaceful life during the militancy period also got included in this list. They said that names of those Sikhs were also included in the black list who peacefully took part in activities favoring Khalistan in foreign countries. The team thanked Sri Rajnath Singh for declaring the incidents of November, 1984 a Sikh Genocide.

The Home Minister said that he respect the Sikh community. If Sikhs didn’t fight for the security of India, the current India would have been  divided into so many tiny parts. Rajnath Singh promised that he will surely fulfill every fair demand of the Sikh community.

It is noteworthy that RSS played a key role in this meeting. To make the environment of the meeting smooth, RSS leaders continuously had earlier meetings with both Sikh leaders and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
