Central Government Asks State Governments to Issue Compensation of Rs. 5 Lakh to Sikh Genocide Victims

NEW DELHI, India—The Central Government has instructed the Chief Ministers of all states to issue compensation of Rs. 5 Lakh to each victim family of the Sikh Genocide of November, 1984. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked the Chief Ministers in a letter to quickly issue this compensation to victim families. He has also asked them to submit all information about the compensation to the Home Ministry. According to Government Reports, 3325 innocent people were killed during the genocide. 2733 were from Delhi and the rest were from other states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu Kashmir.
